part of my heart .... at least one layer

I've recently had a vision of sorts. A dream if you will.

I picture a church that is legitimately and honestly concerned about Social Action. A church that takes the idea of the alien, orphan and widow seriously. That is not consumed with simply ministry within the church, but that has an outreach mindset -- dare I say even global mindset. It's a church that promotes awareness of issues and ACTION towards those issues. It's a church and a BODY that cares and does everything within its means to act and be the hands of Christ.

I picture months dedicated to AIDS awareness and the issue of Global Sex Trafficking and our role in Environmental Protection/Stewardship. I picture introducing agencies such as Blood:Water Mission and The Simple Way and Children's HopeChest and Tom’s Shoes to the everyday mom and dad churchgoer. Opening eyes to issues. And hopefully stirring hearts towards action and prayer as well.

We talked so much about dreams and visions during my year on the World Race. For me, this is a dream. It’s not just about doing good works and feeling good about myself … it’s about inspiring others and being inspired. About being the Kingdom and Christ with flesh on. And bringing others into that journey as well.

I believe in my whole heart that a church like that exists out there somewhere .... And as we all know, I’m speaking of the Church with a capital “C” here.

but i guess for right now .... i'm kind of looking for this in the form of church with a little "c." People who get this concept. Concrete support. Like-minded individuals. Somewhere where this dream and this vision fits.

so .... my question right now? Where is that?

Where are those people? Where is that church? Where is my place to belong?

Oo! Oo! I go to this church you are dreaming about. Im not even kidding. The Village in Lewisville. It is amazing. While there are definitely your typical church goers. Chandler makes it clear every week why we are here. Missional living is the key to our church and we are very mission driven. You really should move to Dallas. Ive got the single virgin guy friends and an AWESOME church.
